Cookbook Review for Crazy For Breakfast Sandwiches

Crazy For Breakfast Sandwiches

I got this book a few weeks ago to review and I want you know this is such a fun book with new and creative sandwich recipes for breakfast. Most can be made quickly in a matter of minutes with just a little pre-planning. There are over 100 recipes in this book and all you need to make them is an all in one sandwich maker or a Panini type grill.  This is Jessica Harlan’s 5th cookbook and her recipes are easy to follow and I saw quite a few I will be trying soon. She shows you that breakfast isn’t boring anymore! This cookbook is perfect for our busy lifestyles and would be awesome for college students or anyone grabbing breakfast on the go.

She gives you recipes for biscuits, corn cakes or pancakes that can be made ahead as the sandwich base. She even gives tips on how to make bacon lattice for sandwiches which I plan to try this weekend. You can’t go wrong with bacon on a sandwich anytime! She suggests using a muffin top pan for baking some of the breads in as they are usually the perfect size for most sandwich makers.

From classic to healthy, to creative and gourmet the recipes in this book are quick and tasty solutions to a delicious morning meal. Some of the ones I am looking forward to trying are Cheddar Eggs on Hash Browns, the Artichoke and Tomato Stack, Herbed Pancakes with Prosciutto and Egg and French Toast Sandwich with Praline Bacon. Jessica makes making breakfast sandwiches fun and to the next level of awesomeness!

Coming in July!

Vegan Beans from Around the World by Kelsey Kinser

This is a great cookbook all about beans, dried and fresh with an international flavor. I can’t wait to try some of the recipes in this book. In fact I was just at a bulk food store yesterday and I spotted some adzuki beans which are now soaking to be cooked tomorrow.

Now as most of you know,  I am not vegan and rarely even cook that way. It was one of the reasons I was so interested in reading this cookbook. I love beans of all kinds and know that adding them to our diets is a real positive thing so I was hoping this book could convince me try a new type of cooking. It has done it’s job. I see quite a few recipes I can’t wait to make. I know that they will be hits in my house just from reading the recipe. There is a Greek Green Bean Salad I can’t wait to make! I also intend to make the Crunchy Roasted Chickpeas this weekend.

We are all looking for ways to cook healthy and this book will give you lots of options. The title may say “Vegan Beans”, but it’s not just for vegans and vegetarians. It is for anyone looking to anyone looking for delicious new recipes.

The author of this book, Kelsey Kinser has lived in Greece, Spain, France and Jamaica and the mixture of recipes is evident. There are 100 recipes in this book and it will take you around the world as you read thru the book. There are also helpful tips about cooking beans, different soaking methods and a helpful great guide on the ratio of dry beans to cooked beans.

Now for the exciting news! I have a cookbook bundle to give away from Ulysses Press that includes a copy of The Kamado Grill & Smoker Cookbook by Chris Grove, Crazy for Breakfast Sandwiches by Jessica Harlan and Vegan Beans Around the World. I know you are going to love them all.
