Chocolate Almond Scones
3 1/2 C. all-purpose flour
5 t. baking powder
2 T. sugar
1 t. salt
4 oz. cold butter
4 eggs, beaten
3/4 C. cream
2 t. almond extract
1 C. chocolate chips
1/2 C. sliced almonds, toasted
Preheat oven to 425° F .
Combine flour, baking powder, sugar and salt. Cut in batter until it resembles course meal. Add 3 eggs, almond extract and cream. Stir until soft dough forms, mix in chocolate chips and almonds.
Pat out until 3/4-inch thick. Cut into diamond shape, brush with reserved egg. Place on baking pan coated with cooking spray.
Bake for 10 minutes until lightly browned. Serve warm.
Yield: 1 dozen
