Honey Wheat Bread

2 t. active dry yeast

1 1/2 C. 100-percent white whole wheat or stone ground whole wheat flour

2 1/2 C. special bread flour for machines

1/4 C. nonfat dry milk powder

1  t. salt

1/3 C. honey

1-1/3 C. lukewarm water

1 T. oil

2 t. vanilla or almond extract (optional)

Place all of the ingredients into the pan of your bread machine, program the machine for Basic White Bread, and press start. Check the dough after 10 to 15 minutes of kneading; it should have formed a smooth ball, soft but not at all sticky. If necessary, adjust the dough’s consistency with additional water or flour.

Makes one 7-to 8-inch loaf.
