Chocolate Peanut Butter Cake

Chocolate Cake with Peanut Butter-Fudge Frosting

2 cups sugar
2 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking powder
5 Tbsp. cocoa
1/4 tsp salt
2 unbeaten eggs
1 cup salad oil
1 cup buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tsp. soda, dissolved in 1 cup hot water

Sift together all dry ingredients.

Add eggs, oil, buttermilk, vanilla, and dissolved soda. Beat at medium speed for 2 minutes. Batter will be quite thin.

Pour in 2–9″ layer, greased and floured pans.

Bake at 350° for 35 minutes or until done.

Peanut Butter-Fudge Frosting
3 cups confectioners’ sugar
3/4 cup baking cocoa
1/8 teaspoon salt
6 Tablespoons of milk
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/3 cup of butter or margarine, softened
2 Tablespoons of peanut butter

Combine sugar, cocoa, and salt in a bowl. Add milk and vanilla.
Blend until smooth.

Add butter and then peanut butter. Mix until spreading consistency.
