Hunka Chocolate Cookies
2 (12 oz.) pkgs. semisweet chocolate pieces (about 4 cups)
4 squares unsweetened chocolate (4 oz.)
1/4 c. butter
1/2 c. all-purpose four
1/2 tsp. baking powder
4 eggs
1 1/3 c. sugar
2 tsp. vanilla
2-3 c. broken walnut pieces
melted white chocolate
melted semisweet chocolate
In a heavy saucepan, heat 1 package of semisweet chocolate pieces, the unsweetened chocolate and butter until melted; stir constantly. Transfer to large mixing bowl to cool slightly.
Stir together flour, baking powder and 1/4 tsp. salt. Set aside.
Add eggs, sugar and vanilla to chocolate mixture; beat with electric mixer. Add flour mixture and beat on low speed until well mixed. Stir in remaining chocolate pieces and nuts.
Using 1/4 cup dough for each cookie, drop 3 inches apart onto lightly greased cookie sheets. Flatten slightly.
Bake in 350-degree oven 12-15 minutes, or until edges are firm and surface is dull and cracked. Let stand 2 minutes. Remove, and cool on wire racks. Drizzle with melted white and semisweet chocolate.
Makes 24 cookies.
