Turtle Sundae Dessert Bars
18 1/4-ounce German Chocolate Cake Mix
14-ounce package caramels
1/2 cup evaporated milk less 2 teaspoons
6 tablespoons butter
2/3 cup chopped nuts
2/3 cup butter brickle bits
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Mix cake according to package directions.
Set aside half of the batter; pour into a greased and floured 9-by-13-inch baking pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 18 minutes.
In a saucepan, over low heat, melt caramels, milk and butter. Remove from heat and add nuts and brickle chips. Put over cake. Sprinkle with chocolate chips. Put reserved batter over the top.
Bake for 20 to 25 minutes longer. Cake is done when it springs back when lightly touched.
Cool and cut into squares.
Makes 3 dozen bars.
