Green Beans With Sugared Walnuts
2 tablespoons butter
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 tablespoon sugar
2 pounds fresh string beans, trimmed
Melt butter in a heavy skillet and add walnuts. Lightly brown, then add sugar and mix well. Continue to cook for 3 minutes on medium heat. Set aside.
Place green beans in a large pot with enough water to cover; bring to a boil. Cook until bright green, but still slightly crunchy. Drain and add to the walnut mixture. Mix well.
Makes 8 servings.
