Ginger Crisps
2/3 C. shortening
1 C. sugar
1 egg
1/4 C. molasses
2 C. flour
1 t. soda
1 t. cinnamon
1/2 t. ground cloves
1 1/4 t. ground ginger
1/2 t. salt
1/2 C. walnuts finely chopped
sugar for coating cookies
Cream shortening and sugar together. Add egg and molasses. Beat well.
Sift dry ingredients together. Add to the creamed mixture. Add the nuts and mix well.
Shape dough into balls about the size of walnuts. Roll in sugar. Place on a cookie sheet about 2 inches apart. Do not flatten.
Bake at 350°F. for 15 minutes.
Yield: 4 dozen.
