Barbecued Onions

Country Style Barbequed Onions

1 can (28 ounces) of Bush’s® Country Style Baked Beans
8 medium Vidalia onions or sweet onions
1/4 cup dark brown sugar
1/2 cup sweet red barbecue sauce
4 Tbsp. (1/2 stick) butter, but into 8 pieces
2 strips bacon, precooked, cut into 8 pieces Fresh ground black pepper, to taste

Cut off onion stems and peel. Hollow-out onions leaving base intact. Finely chop the onion removed from the shell; in mixing bowl, combine Bush’s Country Style Baked Beans, chopped onion, brown sugar and barbecue sauce.

Spoon bean mixture into onions; top each onion with butter, ground pepper and bacon.

Arrange onions on grill grate away from fire. Grill 40 to 60 minutes or until they are golden brown and tender.

Serves 8.
