Italian Garlic Bread Burgers

1 (11.75-ounce) package frozen mozzarella and garlic cheese bread

1 1/2 pounds ground beef

Salt and pepper to taste

4 tomato slices

12 large, fresh basil leaves

Heat bread according to package directions for grilling.

Meanwhile, lightly shape ground beef into four 3/4-inch-thick patties. Place patties on grill over medium ash-covered coals. Grill, uncovered, 13 to 15 minutes to medium (160 F) doneness (not pink in center and juices show no pink color), turning occasionally.

Cut bread crosswise into 4 “buns.” Season burgers with salt and pepper. Place burgers in buns, and top with tomato and basil.

Makes 4 servings.
