Lentil Sausage Soup

1 lb. bulk sausage, browned, drained
2 medium onions, chopped
3-4 cloves garlic, minced
2 cups lentils
1 tablespoon salt, optional
1/2 teaspoon oregano
1-15 ounce can of stewed or crushed tomatoes or tomato juice
2 quarts of water

Simmer this 45 minutes to an hour. Best served the next day.
