Halloween Personal Pan Pizzas
Halloween is right around the corner! The kids get home from school and they want to go trick or treating right away, but first you have to feed them, right? Well not a kid I know would turn down these cute personal pan pizzas before they go out the door. You could even have them help you and maybe that will curb some of the excitement that they have. Before I go any further I need to disclose that I was sent a great goodie package from Fleischmann’s and was asked to post about my experience using their pizza crust yeast. The opinions are my own.
This dough is easy and fast to make. The best thing about it is you don’t have to wait to have the dough raise. In fact, you could make these pizzas in less time than it would take to get one delivered and serve it hot without that yucky cardboard flavor. The dough is ready to use after you mix it up and knead it for several minutes. What a great time saver this yeast is! You can make 4-5 personal pizzas or a large 12 inch pizza depending on how thick or thin you like your dough. If you don’t have these mini pizza pans don’t despair, You can just roll out the circles of dough and bake them on a greased cookie sheet or pizza stone.
While you’re making the dough and putting it in the pans, let the kids cut out some Halloween decorations to put on their pizzas. You’ll need some small Halloween cookie cutters and some vegetables or pepperonis that they can cut shapes out of. You could even have them all cut out ahead of time for them and just let them each decorate their pizza.
I used a pumpkin cookie cutter on the pepperoni’s, it was the perfect match. I had a couple of slices of ham that I cut the bats out of and mushrooms made the cutest witch’s hat, which I used for teeth on the pumpkin face. Let your kids use their imagination and see what they come up with. I learned a long time ago that when you have your children help in the kitchen they eat better and are more likely to try new things. A real plus is the interesting conversations you can get into with your children when they cook with you. Kids really can say the darnedest things!
The pizzas should take about 10 – 12 minutes to bake. For more information on Fleischmann’s Pizza Crust Yeast go to their website. There are detailed step by step directions on how to make the pizza dough and more recipes.
One thing I am going to start doing is having a monthly pizza night where we can all get together and try a delicious new pizza. Families that eat and cook together build healthier and happier families. Some of my favorite memories involve being in my grandmother’s kitchen. Sundays everyone stopped by for dinner and there was always room for one more at the table. I never knew at the time just how special that time was or how I would miss it. Another thing my grandmother loved was Bingo and I would often go with her. They we’d come home and she’d make a pizza from a box kit. We’d have it with big tall glasses of Vernors. Was it the best? Not really, LOL. She would of loved this yeast! I guarantee it. She’d of never bought a box mix again once she tried this yeast. She was such an influence on my life and my love of baking breads came from her.
