Writing a Family Cookbook – Part 5

Creating your Own Recipes Family Cookbook

Here is a  sample recipe and how I formatted it. I tried to include a family picture with every recipe of the person or a member of their immediate family with each recipe.

 Sour Cream Cookies

 1/2 C. Margarine

 1 1/2 C. Brown Sugar

 2 Eggs

 1 t. Vanilla

 2 1/2 C. Flour

 1/2 t. Baking Powder

 1 t. Baking Soda

 1/2 t. Salt

 3/4 C. Walnuts

 1 C. Sour Cream

In a large mixing bowl, blend together margarine and brown sugar until creamy. Add eggs and blend in. Mix together flour, soda, baking powder and salt. Blend into sugar mixture and then add sour cream, nuts and mix well together. Chill dough for at least 2 hours.

Drop by teaspoon onto a greased baking sheet. Bake at 400°F. for 10 – 12 minutes. Let cool and frost.

Frosting:

 6 T. Butter – browned

 3 C. Powdered Sugar

 1/4 C. Milk

Blend all ingredients together. If needed add a little more milk to get the right consistency to frost cookies.

Recipe came from Marion – everyone’s favorite!

Note: This is not the font I used for our book (I used one called Zippity Do), but this is how the recipe looked on the page. I didn’t use the font here because if you don’t have it installed on your computer it wouldn’t show for you.
