Southern Fried Okra

Southern Fried Okra

5 C. okra sliced 1/2 inch thick

1/2 C. flour

1/2 C. cornmeal

1 T. bacon grease

salt and pepper to taste

Combine flour and cornmeal in a paper bag. Add okra. Shake, coating well.

Add bacon grease to a skillet and slowly fry the okra for 30 – 45 minutes over low heat and okra is golden brown. Season with salt and pepper.
