We had these for Labor Day for Happy Hour, they are way to good! I had never had hibiscus tea before and it is delicious and prepared this way amazing. The original recipe came from Bobby Flay but my friends modified it some. As you can see it was pretty to look at also. The raspberries were delicious too after soaking in the mixture.

This is a light, refreshing drink. Next time we make them we are going to try some honey splenda combination in them to reduce the sugar content.

Hibiscus Tea Cocktails

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 15 minutes

Total Time: 2 hours, 20 minutes

Yield: 6 servings

Hibiscus tea with tequila with a fruity mix of oranges, limes and raspberries, topped with club soda.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 cups water
  • 6 hibiscus or red zinger tea bags
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1 cup tequila
  • 1/2 cup fresh lime juice
  • 1 lime, sliced
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • 1 cup fresh raspberries
  • 3 cups cold club soda

Instructions

  1. Combine the sugar and water in medium saucepan. Bring to a boil and cook until the sugar is dissolved. Take off of the heat and add the tea bags. Let steep for 5 minutes. Remove tea bags. Return to heat and reduce mixture by half. Chill for 1 hour or until cold.
  2. Combine the cooled hibiscus syrup, orange juice, tequila and lime juice in a pitcher. Add the limes, oranges and raspberries. Let chill one more hour.
  3. Fill tall glasses with ice and add about 1/2 cup of the mixture to each. Add some of the fruits to each glass. Then fill to the top with the cold club soda and serve.
