1 lb. broccoli
6-8 small pickled whole onions, or 2 medium onions quartered
1/4 cup butter
2 tablespoon flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
1 (3 oz.) packages cream cheese
1/2 cup cheese cheddar & swiss mixed
1 cup Italian seasoned bread crumbs
Cook broccoli. Set aside.
If using fresh onions; cook in boiling salted water till tender.
In saucepan melt half the butter. Blend in flour, salt and dash pepper. Add milk. Cook, stirring constantly till thickened and bubbly. Reduce heat; blend in cream cheese till smooth.
Place vegetables in 1-1/2 qt. casserole.
Pour sauce mixture over and mix lightly.
Top with cheese.
Melt the remaining butter; toss with bread crumbs. Sprinkle on top of casserole.
Bake 350° F. 45 minutes.
