Iced Apple Turnovers

1 lb granny smith apples, finely chopped
1T lemon juice
1/2t sugar
1/2t cinnamon
1 refrigerated 9″ pie crust
2T powdered sugar
1t grated orange peel

Preheat oven to 425. In 1 quart saucepan, combine apples, lemon juice, sugar and cinnamon and cook over medium heat. Stir occasionally until apples are very soft, about 5 mins. Remove from heat, set aside.

Roll pie crust to a 16×18 rectangle. Cut into 8 4×4 squares. Spoon an equal amount of apple mixture onto the center of each square. Fold in half, forming a triangle. Using fork, seal edges.

Arrange turnovers on a nonstick baking sheet, and bake for 8 to 10 mins or golden brown. Remove to wire rack and let cool.

Prepare icing. In small bowl, combine powdered sugar, orange peel and 1t water, mixing to form icing. Decoratively drizzle over cooled turnovers.
