Pecan Tart Squares

Crust
2-2/3 C. all-purpose flour

1 t. baking powder

1 t. salt

1 C. butter

1 C. brown sugar

1 egg

Filling
4 eggs

1-1/2 C. dark corn syrup

1/2 C. brown sugar

6 T. all-purpose flour

1/2 t. salt

2 t. vanilla

18 oz. pecan halves

Mix flour, baking powder, salt, butter, brown sugar and egg. Pat into a 15-by-10-inch (jellyroll) pan. Bake 20 minutes at 350°F.

In a large mixing bowl, combine eggs, corn syrup, brown sugar, flour, salt and vanilla. Chop 2 cups of the pecans and stir them into batter. Pour filling over the crust and arrange the remaining whole pecans on top.

Bake at 350°F. for 30 minutes. Cool in pan and cut in squares.
