Steak a Pizzaiola

1-1/2 tablespoons olive oil

3 lb boneless chuck steaks, 3/4 inch thick

1 onion, sliced

2 garlic cloves, minced

28 oz can crushed tomatoes

1/2 tablespoon oregano

1/2 tablespoon basil

salt and pepper to taste

Heat the oil in a large, deep skillet.

Cut the steaks into serving size pieces. Sear the steaks in the hot oil on both sides.

Add the onion and garlic and cook for a minute or two.

Add the remaining ingredients, stir and bring to a simmer.

Cover and cook until meat is very tender, about 2 hours.

Serve the extra sauce with pasta or rice.

Yield: 6 to 8 servings
