These look really yummy. I used to love chik-fil-a when I was younger. Not so sure about the sugar, but these are definitely worth trying! Pinned!
You really don’t taste the sugar. I think it is what makes it taste like theirs, use just half if it bothers you but I wouldn’t leave it out totally.
We live in a little town with no Chick-Fil-A. We suffer terribly. I can’t wait to try these. I found your recipe on Clever Chicks Blog Hop!
Thanks Laura, we have them where I live but I actually like these better. They are even good cold!
These look really tasty! The idea of putting powdered sugar in them intrigues me. Pinning.
You don’t even know it’s there, it’s one of those secret ingredients, no one will guess.
I used to a get a chick fil a chicken biscuit every Saturday before drivers ed- so yummy! Pinned to my chicken dinner board.
they are good, I may just go get one in the AM when I go to town!
Powdered sugar? That’s a first. I LOVE Chick Fil-A nuggets so I’ll definitely have to try these out.
yes, it works too and you really don’t taste it.
Yum – I love Chick Fil-A sandwiches but they are too far away from where I live to go there very often. Definitely giving these a try – they look great!
Hope you love them! We sure do…..
Mmmmmm…Thanks for sharing! I can’t wait to try this! : )
Thanks Shirley!
Your blog is so pretty!
Thanks!
Chick Fil A is the best chicken ever IMO and the powdered sugar HAS to be key to that super special taste! Thanks for linking up at Link It or Lump It!
Thanks Allison, I hope you try it. We love it here.
The chicken nuggets look delicious and such a easy recipe to follow. So…..

Thanks for the feature! That’s so nice of you. I will definitely stop by.
Do you think you could make these ahead and freeze them to make later? Or would it be best to cook them and then freeze them? Nice to have nuggets on hand for those nights when I really don’t feel like cooking. 🙂
I honestly don’t know. I think I would cook or actually partially cook them first just enough to set the coating on them. Then I would think you could bake them. If you try it, let me know or next time I may try it because it actually would be good to know. Thanks for asking.
I LOVE Chick-fil-A nuggets! I’m going to have to try these! 🙂
Thanks for sharing them on Twirl & Take a Bow!
Hope you love these too!
These look yummy. I got a copycat recipe for Chick-fil-A nuggets and it called to marinate them in dill pickle juice. Thanks for sharing. We love chicken nuggets.
I have never heard of that one… how was it?
More work than worth it. Didn’t notice any difference in the taste if I would have marinated them or not.
Sorry you thought that. The buttermilk should of started to change the texture of the chicken. I have found if I leave it in the buttermilk the texture of the chicken actually gets silky. Of course that isn’t what chick fil a does, so I am just wondering if it was marinated long enough. I have served this to lots of people and they have all been surprised how good it was.
Soak the chicken in pickle juice. I have a recipe very close to this one, except u soak the chicken in pickle juice. The milk is buttermilk that I coat it in just before the flour mixture. I do not add powdered sugar to mine, but I might try this. I do add a pinch of paprika to the flour mixture. This make it taste exactly like Chick-Fil-A.
I have seen that before too Kari, I need to try it. Thanks for your input.
I was wondering if you absolutely have to marinate the chicken in the milk? Was going to make this for dinner tonight but cant if you have to let it marinade…
I think you need too, it makes the chicken more tender.
I’ve heard from a reliable source that they marinade their chicken in pickle juice but not 100% sure & I’ve never tried it 🙂
I’ve heard that too Vickie but I haven’t tried it. We are very happy with this recipe the way it is so don’t think I’ll be changing it soon.
Can they be baked?
I don’t think so. I don’t think they will crisp up if you do.
This is probably a dumb question, but could you bake them?
No question is dumb. I don’t think this recipe would work if you do. If you wanted to quickly fry them to set the coating and then bake them they would work. Baking would get rid of some of the oil also.
Is there a way to freeze somewhere within the steps of preparation? Thanks for any ideas.
I’m not real sure but if I had to guess I would quickly fry them not all the way done. Put the pieces on a cookie sheet, not touching. Freeze, when frozen bag them. I’d bake them to serve if I did it. If you try it let me know please?
