You really don’t taste the sugar. I think it is what makes it taste like theirs, use just half if it bothers you but I wouldn’t leave it out totally.

Do you think you could make these ahead and freeze them to make later? Or would it be best to cook them and then freeze them? Nice to have nuggets on hand for those nights when I really don’t feel like cooking. 🙂

I honestly don’t know. I think I would cook or actually partially cook them first just enough to set the coating on them. Then I would think you could bake them. If you try it, let me know or next time I may try it because it actually would be good to know. Thanks for asking.

These look yummy. I got a copycat recipe for Chick-fil-A nuggets and it called to marinate them in dill pickle juice. Thanks for sharing. We love chicken nuggets.

More work than worth it. Didn’t notice any difference in the taste if I would have marinated them or not.

Sorry you thought that. The buttermilk should of started to change the texture of the chicken. I have found if I leave it in the buttermilk the texture of the chicken actually gets silky. Of course that isn’t what chick fil a does, so I am just wondering if it was marinated long enough. I have served this to lots of people and they have all been surprised how good it was.

Soak the chicken in pickle juice. I have a recipe very close to this one, except u soak the chicken in pickle juice. The milk is buttermilk that I coat it in just before the flour mixture. I do not add powdered sugar to mine, but I might try this. I do add a pinch of paprika to the flour mixture. This make it taste exactly like Chick-Fil-A.

I was wondering if you absolutely have to marinate the chicken in the milk? Was going to make this for dinner tonight but cant if you have to let it marinade…

I’ve heard from a reliable source that they marinade their chicken in pickle juice but not 100% sure & I’ve never tried it 🙂

No question is dumb. I don’t think this recipe would work if you do. If you wanted to quickly fry them to set the coating and then bake them they would work. Baking would get rid of some of the oil also.

I’m not real sure but if I had to guess I would quickly fry them not all the way done. Put the pieces on a cookie sheet, not touching. Freeze, when frozen bag them. I’d bake them to serve if I did it. If you try it let me know please?
