Chocolate Cherry Cake and Frosting
CAKE
1 pk Devils food cake mix (with pudding in mix)
1/2 cup Dairy Sour Cream
2 Eggs; beat
1 tsp. Almond extract
21 oz. cherry pie filling
FROSTING
6 oz. Semisweet chocolate chips
4 tbsp. margarine or butter
2 1/2 cup powdered sugar, sifted
1/2 tsp. Almond extract
3 tbsp. Milk (to 5 tb)
1. Mix together cake mix, sour cream, eggs, almond extract and pie filling by hand.
2. Pour into a greased and floured 9 x 13-inch pan. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
3. Cool 5-10 minutes and top with frosting.
4. FROSTING: Melt chocolate chips and margarine or butter together.
5. Stir in powdered sugar, almond extract and milk to spreading consistency.
6. Spread warm frosting on warm cake.
