Date Bars

1 pound pitted dates, chopped

1 C. chopped nuts

1 C. all-purpose flour

1 t. baking powder

1/2 t. salt

3 eggs

1 C. sugar

Mix dates and nuts with sifted flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside.

Beat eggs until light. Add sugar gradually and mix well.

Add flour mixture to egg-sugar mixture. Blend thoroughly and pour into a greased 9-by-9-by-2-inch pan.

Bake in a 350-degree preheated oven about 20 minutes. Cut into bars while warm. Roll in powdered sugar, if desired.

Yield: 24 bars.
